  • Ruin and Rush: Berlin 1910–1930

  • Free entry.

Drop by Neue Nationalgalerie on Friday to get a glimpse of Berlin in the 1910s and 1920s. The new exhibition “Ruin and Rush” captures Berlin as a city of extremes with works like Ernst Ludwig Kirchner’s “Potsdamer Platz”.

  • Nicole L’Huillier: ‘Rehearsal Room’

Ahead of Gallery Weekend, the Schering Foundation presents 'Rehearsal Room' by Chilean artist Nicole L'Huillier, who now lives in Berlin. The title refers to both a real rehearsal room and to a particular type of sound environment, transforming the foundation's exhibition space into a place of experimentation.

  • Nils Ben Brahim: ‘Die Lücke, die der Teufel lässt’

On Friday, EIGEN + ART Lab presents the opening of Nils Ben Brahim’s solo exhibition ‘Die Lücke, die der Teufel lässt‘.

The doors of Monopol's Apparatehaus open this weekend for a colourful group exhibition with paintings, sculptures, video, and installations. Don't forget to grab a glass of wine at Nature's Calling after you’re done soaking up the art.

  • Som Supaparinya: ‘Melted Stars’

daadgalerie presents the first institutional solo exhibition in Berlin by Som Supaparinya (DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Fellow 2021/22). Originally from northern Thailand, Supaparinya explores the problematic entanglement of Thailand and Japan in World War II as well as the deliberate suppression of its remembrance. The new video work "Melted Stars" focuses on the changing landscape of northern Thailand and adjacent areas, as a long term audio-visual project.

Graphic design nerds and any other type face enthusiasts can quench your thirst this weekend at Kulturforum. Mastering Type is a pop-up exhibition and lecture series that poses the questions: What is the current state of type design? Since 2016, around 350 new typefaces have emerged from masters programmes and a large selection will be on display.

  • Goodbye Berlin

Goodbye Berlin is a mixture of references: Isherwood’s semi-autobiographical novel Goodbye to Berlin, Kate Elswit's essay Watching Weimar Dance, and the legacy of prominent dancers Weimar dancers such as Kurt Jooss and Valeska Gert. Moving between Weimar Republic and the present, Goodby Berlin presents contradictions, paradoxes with apocalyptic visions.

  • Soft Edges

Soft Edges is a sweet and soft celebration of queer focused live music, visual art, and performance. Their first edition kicks off with a group show at New Fears Gallery, featuring artwork from Polańska Laura and Pepi Schikowski as well as live sets and DJ sets.

  • Dozzy Night

Donato Dozzy has long been in a league of his own in the world of hypnotic techno. His classical background helps to create a sound that is almost academic, and is often reflected in his ambient projects or the polyrhythmic sounds of Voices From The Lake. The first ever Dozzy Night in Pano, he invites Fred P and Mary Gehnyei for a night of futuristic minimalism and more.

After a long cold winter, the thought of an open air is an elixir. So good news: this weekend, Else opens for the season, kicking things off with three parties. But I've got my eye on the Sunday party, with KINK b2b Marie Motexier, Mor Elian and more.
