Marco Siciliano: ‘Nontiscordardime’

Italian-born Berlin-based artist Marco Siciliano presents a solo exhibition at Hošek Contemporary. By transforming the space through light reflections, he encourages the analysis of psychosomatic pain and physical proximity.

Sound in the Garden

This weekend, an elite selection of internationally acclaimed musicians and artists transform one of Berlin’s most iconic cultural spaces into a unique listening experience. Wander through Mies van der Rohe’s Sculpture Garden and experience the ethereal fog sculptures of Fujiko Nakaya, while listening artists such as Space Afrika, Dopplereffekt, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Alva Noto and more.

Tanz im August

The 38th edition of Tanz im August kicks off on Thursday, featuring 19 productions with a total of 54 performances across 11 venues, as well as other live events. The festival features companies from around the world performing contemporary dance and experimental choreography and is one of Europe's leading events for dance theater.

August is always a slow month for art. (Everyone is either on vacation or prepping for their big openings for Berlin Art Week.) However, it's a great time to catch up on seeing any exhibitions you haven't had a chance to check out just yet. KW is making that even easier with their free opening. Rave The Planet

Oh how time flies! It's already the fifth edition of Dr. Motte's reimagined rendition of the Love Parade. Join in for this free techno parade and demonstration to support Berlin club culture. Under the motto "Imagine Love", the organizers are calling for electronic music to be recognized as cultural heritage and for clubs to remain open, which is especially prescient considering that currently 1 in 4 Berlin clubs is considering shutting down. Loads of international DJs will play including Maceo Plex, Nicole Moudaber, and Westbam.

Berlin Beats with Oda Haliti

Berlin Beats marches on with another edition. This one features Prishtina/Berlin based artist Oda Haliti, who’s work bridges the dancefloor and the art space, blending global rhythms with local archives.

Let your day flow into evening by the canal, with an excellent DJ lineup including Kenneth Scott and father/daughter duo Karina Schneider and Marc Schneider.

Nepantla Frequencies

Nepantla is a Nahuatl word used in Chicana literature to signify in-betweenness and the evening will reflect on the lived experiences of immigration, displacement, diasporic identity and gender identity of the collective using live cello, synths, guitar and vocals as well as electronic produced elements.

Celebrate the anniversary of Berlin's twin-city partnership with Warsaw by echoing the tradition of the Sunday Chopin concerts in Warsaw's Łazienki Park.The Kolonnadenhof on Museum Island hosts a free open-air piano recital featuring both Chopin and Bach by Swiss pianist Cédric Pescia.

Büro Siebzig: Shackleton LIVE - hosted by Hard Wax

Every Wednesday, Hard Wax hosts a short live performance at Tresor. This week's edition hosts Shackleon, who's live sets occupy a space where polyrhythms, deep bass, and spectral textures collide. Büro Siebzig is open every Wednesday from 21-23h and ticket holders will have also access to Tresor New Faces.

Long Night of Astronomy

It's a big week for stargazing! Wednesday night brings us the total solar eclipse while August is always prime-time for watching the Perseid meteor shower. Saturday night gives you the chance for an even closer look, as planetariums, observatories, and research institutions across Germany are opening their doors for one night. Look through the telescopes, listen to lectures or step inside the mobile planetarium "Intense."

To mark the 65th anniversary of the construction of the Berlin Wall, the Stiftung Berlinermauer and Kulturprojekte Berlin are presenting a multi-day program at the Brandenburg Gate and across the city. The focus is on remembering the victims and listening to stories from diverse perspectives about this era of Berlin history. There will be an open-air installation, an exhibition, and a multi-day program. (Closed during the Rave The Planet event.)
