Gabriele Stötzer: 'Dabei sein und nicht schweigen'

Gropius Bau celebrates the work of Gabriele Stötzer, starting on Thursday. 'Dabei sein und nicht schweigen (Showing up and Not Remaining Silent)' will be the artist's largest solo exhibition to date, and will showcase Stötzer's themes of justice, gender and self-determination, using her own body as a center theme in her own work.

Walter Schels: ’16° Fische . Retrospective’ & Group Show: ‘The Lure of the Image’

C/O Berlin opens up on Friday to celebrate the launch of two new exhibitions. Walter Schels: ’16° Fische . Retrospective’ looks back on the work of Schels’ in honor of his nintieth birthday. The exhibition showcases over three hundred works spanning nearly seven decades and offers new insights into Schels’s work. Upstairs, the becomes home to the new group show: ‘The Lure of the Image’. Here, fourteen artists pose the question “how do images bait or control us as they circulate online?” The exhibition highlights the crucial role images play in shaping our social, cultural, and political landscapes.

Spätschicht x İÇ İÇE Festival

Spätschicht is back for their June edition on Friday. This time they're collaborating with İÇ İÇE Festival for contemporary Anatolian music who will present their open-air community format BİZ BİZE at Gropius Bau. This free programme will take place in the central court as well as the south terrace, and will feature a talk, dance performance, concerts, Djs and even stand-up comedy. It's a great night out and, even better, it’s free to attend.

Anup Mathew Thomas: ‘Two new books, two new works plus an old one for good measure’

Anup Mathew Thomas presents a concise yet compelling selection of his work. ‘Two new books, two new works plus an old one for good measure’ features works created over the last two decades, alongside new works produced during his fellowship at the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program.

As part of Project Space Festival, 'Desire Paths // On traces of longing and (re)making' is a group exhibition that explores how desire paths appear as casual traces of everyday movement but actually are shaped through access, exclusion, and appropriation. The works take five different artistic approaches, each exploring alternative ways of thinking and living and establishes new points of reference that specifically address current events. The weekend kicks off with an opening party tonight and ends with a closing party and festival day on Saturday.

Celebrate the longest day of the year the French way. This year, Fête de la Musique offers over 300 stages across Berlin for a night of performances and free music, all with free admission. This colorful night celebrates music of all genres and is open for everyone.
If you’ve never been, I suggest picking one kiez to simply walk around and explore. (You will definitely find something even without looking at the map!)

ACUD celebrates 35 years (!!) with a sprawling open house and party. Join in to celebrate this pillar of independent culture in the city with a diverse program of DJs, concerts, an exhibition & much more.

Refuge Worldwide x Atelier Gardens Fête de la Musique

The city will light up with Fete de la Musique celebrations on Sunday but one of our top picks is the Refuge party at Atelier Gardens. From noon until 10pm, the music program lights up the courtyard as well as their rooftop space overlooking Tempelhofer Feld. The DJ sets come courtesy of Refuge.

The second edition of Berlin Beats kicks off on Thursday, this time featuring Berlin-based DJ, producer, and founder of Radiant Records, Byron Yeates. Yeates is known for his sets which draw on the queer lineage of electronic dance music, balancing theatrical flair with playfulness.
