Polina Osipova: ‘Cosmologies at Play’

Neun Kelche presents Polina Osipova’s first solo exhibition in Germany. The Russian artist has created a walk-in playground installation, drawing on standardized Soviet playground typologies. The exhibition also presents Soviet imagery of progress alongside Chuvash cosmology, which depicts the cosmos is understood as a living, relational space and ancestors are conceived of as stars.

One of the most exciting and vibrant genres of photography is street photography and f³ – freiraum für fotografie is celebrating it with the new group show "The Magic of the Street". The show features many iconic works by Jane Evelyn Atwood, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Elliott Erwitt, and more, proving that a seemingly ordinary moment can become a significant historical document.

AK Dolven: ‘four hundred million years of sunrise from the dark’

Norwegian artist AK Dolven takes over the St. Matthäus-Kirche starting on Thursday. ‘four hundred million years of sunrise from the dark’ invites us to encounter ourselves within a temporal framework that extends far beyond us through a series of works that blend geological, historical, and personal time.

Galerie Parterre takes over the Kleine Wasserspeicher on Thursday evening for an evening of three dance performances. "tropfen / fließen" (drops / flows) explores tensions, currents, and longings from queer-feminist perspectives.

MÄZEN returns to Säule on Thursday for their second edition. This one features the after-hours sounds of Swedish DJ Acronym, a hardware-driven set from Berlin-based Dutch artist Nadia Struiwigh and warm, hypnotic rhythms from London-based Italian producer Pre Silent, as well as an opening set from experimental techno artist Thirteen Doze.

Sound Metaphors presents an evening of dreamy music, anchored by the meditative ambient sounds of Drew McDowall who is known for creating intricate modular soundscapes with cut-up samples, and deconstructed sounds. The night also features Temple Rat and Egregore.

KABARET KLUB lands at Ballhaus Berlin on Friday, for an evening of live music, performance, and high fashion. Guided by Lilly Mortis, this edition's theme BLUE IS NOT A COLOUR OF THE RAINBOW has a clear message for the Berlin elections. Mortis will be joined on stage by Colette Collerette, Michiel Tange van Leeuwen, Jon Darc and Chris Lloyd, and Pepe Maus.

Book lovers take note! It's rare book week in Berlin! Booksellers from around the world have already descended upon the city. Over 100 antiquarian booksellers are here, for a two-day at the Kronprinzenpalais. There's also a sister event for Vintage Paper at the Alte Münze.

Tattoo Convention

Billing itself as the oldest tattoo festival in the world, the Berlin Tattoo Convention hosts 300 artists, a tattoo contest and much more. It’s the perfect place if you need a little new tattoo inspiration or perhaps just want to show yours off.
