We’ve got an opening at C/O Berlin, Alva Noto at Berghain, Berlin Ramen Festival and more.

“If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.” So goes the quote from Robert Capa, which inspires C/O Berlin’s latest opening. ‘Close Enough” presents works from the female photographers of the Magnum Photos agency. The photos explore themes of trust and complicity, showing how closeness goes beyond the physical and into true intimacy. More info here.

Flow States presents the works of the final cohort of the UdK Graduate School through an exhibition, performances, and an accompanying programme of events. This week, Carsten Nicolai (Alva Noto) is returning to Berghain for the first time in five years for two special performances. Expect a blend of material from his HYbr:ID (2021), and the UNI series, as well as selections from PARA—a new body of work exploring evolving sonic patterns and generative structures.

Music during the week can be a tricky proposition but here’s a new option for you. Deadwax is a new event hosted by Berghain favorite Esposito. The first event happens this week and features Katiusha and Esposito playing “slow-burn grooves, minimal twists, and the kind of psychedelic wonk that makes you forget what day it is - until you remember it’s still Thursday.

Step right up—the surrealist circus has rolled into town with its wicked crew of carnies, inviting you into a wonderland of velvet, vice, and mystery. Haus of Lunac returns to the big top with only three events left—a decadent fusion of the surreal, the circus, and sin. Sonic Sessions at Dark Matter returns with its immersive audiovisual club night. The week features a special highlight: the release of Modeselektor’s DJ-Kicks, celebrating both the legendary Berlin duo’s 30-year journey in electronic music and the milestone anniversaries of DJ-Kicks and !K7 Records in 2025. The first time I saw the Festival of Giant Kites was one of those unforgettable Berlin moments for me. It's quite a spectacle to giant geckos and squids flying high above Tempelhofer Feld!
